Opuntia.putia is the workshop of tradition and innovation.
A space born on March 21, 2016 as a bet for redemption, a "putia" in which to rediscover the roots of Sicilian traditions but also the fruits of contemporary craftsmanship.
A date chosen with care, the first day of spring, but also the international day in memory of the innocent victims of all mafias.
A name that contains two, the opuntia a tough and opulent plant that grows lush even in the most arid soils, the opuntia ficus indica, the common prickly pear, which from South America spread throughout the Mediterranean, becoming a symbol of a land, Sicily, sometimes arid but always generous.
The "putìa", the traditional workshopale which has never been just a shop, originates from the Greek noun αποθήκη (apotheke) derived from the verb apotithemi, literally to put aside, indicated the storeroom, the granary and more generally a place used for the storage and safekeeping of goods, in Sicily the "putià" has always been a place for the exchange of knowledge, a meeting point and reference for small communities.
